Mammillaria hahniana     8/19/20
This is more subtle, but the bright apical growth is unmistakeable. Even the darker green of the plant is pointing to something different happening at the growing tip. There are many cacti, like this species, that have several to many growing "heads." Each will show the pattern of bright apical growth. What will be true, if not obvious, is that one of those apical meristems will be higher than the others. It will be the tip regulating the growth of all the lower tips, Only one meristem, the tallest, is in charge. This is a general truth for all dicot plants, not just cacti. (72/72)
