Echinocereus russanthus canus
And here is another subspecies of E. russanthus that should be just E. canus. These fuzzy white lovelies also metamorphose after about three years to a more ordinary looking plant, without the white “hair.” (There are fuzzy white seedlings that don’t much change with age and maturity. The genus Espostoa has about ten of such species. Oreocereus celsianus, in contrast, is quite naked for the first year or so of life, but then acquires lots of white hair and keeps it forever.)
